THE LIVE CD SENILE DELINQUENCY IS NOW SOLD OUT!!!!!!!
SELECTED TRACKS ARE AVAILABLE TO HEAR IN THE ALBUM 1 SECTION OF THE MUSIC/INFO MENU
==Wilko replaced by Mac McErlane==
Unfortunately, Breathless' long-standing powerhouse drummer and sound tech guru Sgt Wilko has left the fold. Fortunately the vacated stool has been filled by Mac McErlane. Mac, a well-known figure on the MK music retail and gigging scene, in fact already has gigging experience with Lew back in the mists of time and jumped at the chance to join the senile delinquents. Mac has played 2 recent gigs with the lads at a sparsely attended Shenley Leisure Centre and the altogether more vibrant GF social club in Banbury. He is now looking forward to his first fundraiser with the lads on July 4th.
Thankyou Ian! Welcome Mac!!
==Ed's solo CD "Onwards & Upwards"==
Ed has spent the lay off from Breathless duties recording a solo CD, "Onwards & Upwards". CD's will cost £10 plus £1.50 p&p, £5 of which will go to Ed's designated charity, Leukaemia Research. Every effort has been made to make the CD as professional as possible, hence the need for £5 per sale to cover costs, which have gone on a superb 8 page booklet designed by Ed and Ampthill Mob axeman David Matthews.
The CD includes 11 original tracks, 3 of which have been co-written with the enigmatic TJ Down.
Ed is exploring the potential of paypal sites so as not to miss out on hi-tech savvy orders who prefer online shopping, but at the moment Ed is accepting orders by cheque for £11.50 made payable to Edward Jones, posted to Ed c/o 15 Oldham Rise, Medbourne, Milton Keynes, MK5 6GE. Obviously ensure Ed has your address.
A more detailed article on the CD appears in the "ONWARDS & UPWARDS" section on this website. Suffice to say that Ed is exceptionally proud of the whole album - songs, recording and booklet, as well as the good cause.
Should you require further information Ed can be contacted via the "CONTACT US" section of this website. We know that Ed is a regular
reader of the "GUESTBOOK" page so comments/queries can also be submitted there.
Facebook users can check out Ed's CD group on http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=37120897706
Four tracks are being previewed online at www.myspace.com/onwardsandupwardsejones
Keep it real - fair dos!
A SEPARATE WEB PAGE SOLELY FOR ONWARDS & UPWARDS HAS BEEN CREATED. FOLLOW THE MENU BUTTON ON THE EXREME RIGHT OF THE MENU BAR!
==February 7th gig still on==
At the time of writing Breathless' much anticipated debut at the relaunched Sportsmanes Rest, Shenley Leisure Centre, MK is still on. Jack Frost is officially a Rock n Roll fan!!!
==Happy New Year==
Breathless recently returned to the rehearsal rooms, which for security reasons have to remain top secret, and set to work on half a dozen new numbers to breathe new life into their set list. Over the winter break Ed has completed his solo album "Onwards & Upwards" and is looking forward to its release. Details will follow here as soon as.
Do not forget, Breathless debut at their refurbished old stomping ground The Clock Inn, now enigmatically renamed The Sportsmens Rest, at Shenley Leisure Centre, Milton Keynes, on Saturday February 7th. 8.30pm kick off. Dont forget your waistcoats!!!!
==September News==
After several rearrangements the Breathless boys played Buckingham Town Cricket Club's end of season awards evening, in an intimate performance that acted as an ideal warm up for their appearance at Willen Lake on Sunday 21 September for Leukaemia Research's Bananamanchase event. Just like the previous two, the bananamanchase was a superb event, and Breathless' performance has already seen them booked for next year's events. I wonder if the senile delinquents will change their set list by that time???
==End Of A Stressful Week==
A week is a long time in senile delinquent rock and roll. Breathless produced once-in-a-lifetime performances twice in a week as they appeared at Banbur GF Foods Social Club on Saturday 5th July and their annual fundraiser at the Clock on July 12th. Both performances took Breathless to another level. Many have commented that they have never heard the lads sound better, and some can justly claim that they had never heard the lads play before. Ultimately it was a case of "All's well that ends well" as quite a few setbacks had hit the fundraiser, but the music was perfect from the moment support act Dave Green strummed the first chord.
==Breathless in the Capital==
The senile delinquents played a substantial part in the successful Leukaemia Research 10k Bananaman Chase at Kempton Park racecourse on Sunday 22nd June. Once again the lads are only too pleased to be associated with the charity and their fight to see the back of blood cancer.
==Developments In Cyberworld==
MKweb (www.mkweb.co.uk) - a sort of cyber local newspaper - have included a small resume about the lads and created a link to this website. If you visit our links page, you will be able to be transported to their site. Aint technology triffic? In my day, we used to listen to a nat's whisker before pushing a hoop down a hill.
==Breathless brave the elements==
Our heroes braved the tropical heatwave conditions of MK5 on Saturday night, but unfortunately it all proved too much for Ed's Princeton Chorus amp. Just before curtain-up it took its final breath and Sgt Wilko hurriedly put the axe straight through the mixing desk. Consequently the on-stage sound wasn't too great but all was well out front. Fans of Ed's amp will be relieved to now the li'l fella is recovering well in hospital and is kept busy watching antiques and house-buying programmes, as well as re-runs of Dick Van Dyke's popular detective series, Diagnosis Murder.
==£2500 raised==
Muriel Holgate of the Oakley gig organisers have reported that £2500 was raised for Leukaemia Research and have thanked Breathless profusely for their part in that. For the band it was a case of "All's well that ends well" after some initial problems coping with the volume demands of the venue. There is no doubt however that it turned out to be an extremely successful evening in terms of funds raised, audience enjoyment and band satisfaction.
==Oakley Sold Out==
The ticket-only event at Oakley Village Hall on Saturday April 19th, featuring Breathless, has officially sold out. Thankyou very much for all your interest.
==On Our Bikes==
It is with some regret, and also some relief and a large amount of realism, that the Breathless boys have had to pull out of the London Leukaemia Bikeathon. It was so unfortunate that the event was scheduled for the day after the annual Milton Keynes fundraising concert, for which venues and photographers had already been booked and had been publicised widely on t'internet. Ed has also been feeling more and more guilty about inviting people from Nottingham, Newcastle, Plymouth etc and not being around to act as host. All in Breathless have wished Tom Whitehead, the organiser of the event, all the best and are gutted that they have missed the chance to play on the banks of the Thames.
==Bananas, Bikes & Bloody Nags!!!==
Breathless today confirmed that they are to play at Leukaemia Research fundraising events at Kempton Park racecourse, Surrey, in June and at Willen Lake in September in support of official LRF bananaman chase events, and also play in London at LRF HQ at the official bikeathon event. Check the gigs page for dates, and also check out www.lrf.org.uk for more details.
==Latest News From MK5==
The Breathless boys warmed up for their upcoming series of gigs with a productive run through some new material that nods a hat to Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, The Small Faces, The Beatles and Fats Domino. They play Banbury on Easter Saturday, Oakley on April 19th in aid of Leukaemia Research (this is an all-ticket affair - contact us via the website for details) and the Clock Inn on May 10th. MEANWHILE, STAY TUNED FOR BREAKING NEWS YET TO BE FULLY CONFIRMED REGARDING SENLE DELINQUENCY HITTING THIS NATION'S CAPITAL CITY IN JULY!!!
==Bletchley gig is cancelled==
Three days after the gig was booked, the 3rd May Bletchley gig has been cancelled. Because this announcement is only a couple of lines long, there aren't that many to read between - if you catch our drift!
==Breathless Return to Codebreaker Territory==
Saturday 3rd May sees the lads return to Bletchley. The venue is still to be confirmed, but make sure you note the date in your diaries. Who knows, maybe king of the codebreakers and guestbook regular Alan Turing may show up.
==Ed announces Leukaemia Fundraiser details==
On www.justgiving.com/ed2008 internet users can donate to Leukaemia Research once again. Plans this year include the annual concert at the Clock Inn, this year on July 12 which will also include the alternative European Championships. Ed and his brother Rob are also completing a sponsored walk from Plymouth to Poole. Please check out the website!
==Real Madrid 1 Surreal Madrid hatstand==
May 10 is the next Breathless gig at the Clock Inn. The venue is experiencing very tough times at the moment. Live music in Milton Keynes needs venues in order to flourish and provide entertainment other than karaoke or tribute acts. Please see Shenley leisure centre's website on our links page and email support for the venue, maybe suggesting ways the situation can be improved.
==A Surreal Evening==
The delinquents' first outing of 2008 saw the return of our heroes to the famed Clock Inn stage in front of only a smattering of Breathless army members. Whether it was the weather, continued disappointing pre-publicity, the smoking ban or any other reason there is no hiding from the fact the attendance was very low indeed. Musically, it was felt the lads were up to speed, and new numbers Hippy Hippy Shake and You Are My Sunshine were delivered with aplomb, but unpleasant scenes in the crowd in between sets severely dented collective enthusiasm for a good time. Ed however paid tribute to the late Vince Tierney and the band played on. Breathless return to the Clock in May...
==Gigs Confirmed For 2008==
Keep checking the gigs page of the site. Already confirmed for 2008 are two jaunts to the GF Social Club in Banbury, two on the hallowed home-turf stage of the Clock Inn as well as the annual July Leukaemia Fundraiser. With two agents in tow, hopefully these will be added to substantially in due course.
==Message From Ed==
As 2007 draws to a close, I thought I would look back on the year, Breathless-wise. Obviously the year saw the launch of this website, which I hope has proved useful to the Breathless army. When I put it together during the summer holidays, or vacation to our American readers, I had hoped to use Google ad revenue to boost Leukaemia Fundraiser totals. Unfortunately, all the ads that kept appearing advertised the opposition! Many thanks to all who have signed the guestbook and made it great to read, please continue to do so and encourage your friends. We have continued to perform gigs for our agents and hope to boost these in number in 2008. Of course, back in January we recorded our first CD live at the Clock Inn, Senile Delinquency. Listeners have been very complimentary about the sound quality, courtesy of Dave Wilkie. Sales revenue was put towards the total for our second Leukaemia fundraiser in July, an event also memorable for my Dad's band, Ad Hoc, supporting us. This event was the third highlight, and led to us being invited to play at the Bananaman Chase event at Willen. It was here when we got filmed, which was memorable in so far as the arrival of TV cameras breathed new life into our Breathless piano man and we rocked on for another 15 minutes! Obviously it was very sad to end the year with the news of the passing of Vince, who had introduced us at many a Clock Inn gig with his poetry.
My plans for 2008 include recording another Breathless gig and recording a solo CD for fundraising purposes, and several Breathless gigs have already been confirmed. I, as indeed do all the band, hope to see you out and about in 2008. Keep music live!
==Sad News==
Today Ed learned of the sad passing of Breathless' number one fan, Vincent Tierney, the Irish poet, on Monday December 17th 2007. The dapper Vince introduced Clock Inn Breathless gigs' second half spots on numerous occasions with his latest poetic works, adding greatly to the success of those shows. It is rare these days to find characters like Vince, who never had a bad word to say about anyone and always made gig goers feel welcome at the Clock.
All in Breathless, and all our fans I'm sure, send their thoughts and best wishes to his family.
==Oakley Fundraiser==
Breathless were spotted playing the Bananaman Chase at Willen in October and have been booked to appear at a fundraiser for leukaemia research at Oakley Village Hall, near Bedford, on April 19th 2008. Details of tickets etc will appear here as and when received.
==Breathless Rock the Grebe==
Great Holm in Milton Keynes was treated to an early Christmas present when the Breathless boys played a two and a half hour set at the Grebe pub. Breathless Army members from as far afield as Birmingham, Durham and even abroad in the shape of Cardiff mixed with locals in creating a heady atmosphere conducive to the twin gun attack of Rock and Roll. Breathless love the fact that fans turn out regularly for their gigs and fully appreciate the hours some spend on motorways in order to attend. The band would like to take this opportunity to wish the Breathless army a MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!
==New Year Rhythm & Blues==
The beginning of February 2008 sees Breathless once again take to the Clock Inn stage for their traditional early year gig there. This will
actually be the first anniversary of the legendary gig that was captured on CD. I wonder if a similar event will happen this year! Perhaps yes, perhaps no - or, as the French say - put etre oui, put etre non.
==Ed's Annual Birthday Bash==
Breathless have once again been booked to play the Clock Inn, Shenley Leisure Centre, on the closest weekend to Ed's birthday. The gig is on Saturday 10th May 2008. Just a quick note to groupies and gold-diggers (and Ed's Dad, who forgets these things), the actual date is, and in fact always has been, and indeed will forever remain, the 15th May.
==New Reviews Section==
The continuing understanding of all things world, wide and web (the three w's) has allowed the webmaster to create a new page on this site, dedicated to gig reviews and any press coverage worth highlighting. The page can be found under the music/info menu bar. The Leytonstone Lip has kindly reviewed the lads' gig at the Clock Inn on Saturday 17th November and his (her?) review has christened the page in question.
==New Material==
Very productive rehearsal sessions have breathed new life into Breathless setlists of late. Versions of Slow Down, Dizzy Miss Lizzy, Hippy Hippy Shake, The Circle and The Pirates' Jealous Girl are currently being worked on for possible inclusion in live sets.
==Edited Live Album Available On Website==
Twelve tracks from the legendary live CD Senile Delinquency have been made available to hear on this site from today. The full CD is still
available to buy for £5, with £2 being donated to Leukaemia Research, but realistically not too many more sales can be expected, plus our heroes reckon these tracks will attract potential bookers and agents. Of course, care has been taken to not make all tracks available
so as not to alienate existing fans who bought the album. The original concert lasted two hours, so obviously several tracks remain unreleased. These include Del Shannon, Rolling Stones and even Chas & Dave covers. Ed intends to work with sound guru Dave Wilkie to mix these to an acceptable standard and make these available via this site in the future.
==Bulletin Updates==
Our favourite senile delinquents have been invited to attend a celebration/awards event held by Leukaemia Research in Central London on Monday 12 November. It is unclear whether this recognition is for the Bananaman Chase event or the annual fundraiser gigs at the Clock Inn, but obviously this out-of-the-blue invitation has been warmly received. On a different tack, Breathless return to the rehearsal studio this week in the knowledge that new material is required. The lads have had a pretty much unchanged setlist for a number of gigs including several at regular venues, and are excited at the possibility of bringing in fresh material. This would also free up the possibility of more recording in the future.
==www.askmk.tv/videos.php?id=348==
As promised, Ed has tracked down the filmed footage at the link in the header above. The clip does not feature the mighty Breathless sound, but does allow viewers to feast on close-ups of Ed, Pete, Lew and Ian hiding behind the patented Sgt Wilko drumkit!
==Bad news from Horizon Radio==
Despite the best efforts of Ed and sound guru Dave Wilkie, it appears that, some would say unbelievably, MK's Horizon Radio either failed to take any photos of the lads' triumphant appearance at the Bananaman Chase or deemed them unworthy of uploading them onto their website, but remember - there are other rival radio stations you may wish to tune in to. Some photos of the event are available to view on their website www.horizonmk.co.uk. Ed is trying to track down the wherabouts of the filmed footage of the boys' set as we speak. Future gigs will be photographed and filmed by more reliable sources in the future. On a brighter note, fans of the band
have commented favourably having heard the set clearly from several miles away!
==Inspirational Scenes at the Bananaman Chase==
The sight of 500 fun runners running around Willen Lake chasing after 10 human bananas raising money for Leukaemia Research inspired Breathless to play out of their skins in their final fundraising gig of the year. The lads expressed their nerves beforehand due to the scale and nature of the event but found it impossible not to be inspired by the event, the organisers and the participants. Runaway, Hi Heeled Sneekers, Keep On Runnin' and a revamped Runnin' (as opposed to Rockin) All Over The World endeared the lads to the runners, as did the lads enthusiasm to indulge in the post race massage offered by the masseuse. It really was a fantastic event. Our favourite senile delinquents attracted interest from MK Horizon 103 FM Radio (keep an eye out on their website for photos) and MK TV
online who filmed the long medley finish - elongating it to biblical proportions! Keep an eye out - the final total will be posted here as soon as it is known.
==3rd Annual Fundraiser Confirmed==
Following the success of the 2006 and 2007 events, The Clock Inn at Sheley Leisure Centre, Shenley Church End in Milton Keynes have once again confirmed the 3rd annual "Breathstock" concert in aid of Leukaemia Research. It will take place on Saturday July 12th 2008. Check here regularly for details of support acts and other events.
==Bananaman 10k Preparations Hotting Up==
The Bananaman 10k fun run at Willen Lake in Milton Keynes on Sunday October 7th is really taking on extra significance for our delinquent heroes. Breathless are confirmed as the only band playing, so the whole audience of runners, supporters, spectators and bananas will be in the Breathless army for the day. The lads will be situated at the start and finish line (its the same line - they wont be 10k away from each other!!!) and will be playing from approximately 10.30 am, carrying on after the race has finished as the competitors enjoy the post-race party atmosphere. Remember proceeds of this prestigious national event are going to Leukaemia Research (see our "Links" page). Any crowd member in a patent Heather Jones Breathless waistcoat wins a prize...
==Howzat? Breathless bowl a few maidens over==
It was an emotional night at Buckingham Town Cricket Club last night. The First XI, under captain Rob Large had just been crowned Cherwell League champions, then Ed and the mighty mighty Breathless boys turn up. Although the leukaemia has curtailed Ed's playing career for the Bourton Rd outfit, he still considers himself very much a Buckingham man and it was great for him to play with Breathless on such a happy occasion for all his old friends.
"I still consider myself a Buckingham man and it was great to play with Breathless on such a happy occasion for all my old friends" he said afterwards.
The more relaxed gig, in civvies rather than waistcoats, featured dep bassman Nick Jones who did a tremendous job. All concerned are hopeful of return bookings in the future. More news as and when...
==Do Wishes Come True?==
At extremely short notice Breathless played their ebut gig at the Wishing Well pub in West Bletchley last night. The lads contended with traditional graveyard contributors the end of the month, school summer holidays and the Final of Big Brother, to put in an empassioned performance. The Wishing Well are eager for the delinquents to return, hopefully with enough notice to mobilise the full Breathless army into action. More news as and when we hear it. On a lighter note, wasn't it nice that Brian won?
==Breathless Step Into The Breach==
STOP PRESS! A late cancellation at the Wishing Well pub in Bletchley sees Breathless step up to the plate on Friday August 31st. Your favourite local senile delinquents take the stage at 9pm. Hope to see as many of you there as possible.
==Breathless Confirm Bananaman Chase==
The story below is confirmed as FACT!!! Please see www.bananaman10k.com for details.
==News Just In==
Following their triumphant fundraiser concert for Leukaemia Research, Hazel Staten of the charity are hopeful that the senile delinquents will be scheduled to appear at the 2007 Bananaman Chase at Willen Lake, Milton Keynes, on Sunday 7th October 2007 (see "Links" for more L.R. details). There are still some minor details to be ironed out but the lads hope to play and fully support the event. Please check the "News" and "Gigs" pages regularly for up-to-date information.
==Breathless Thanked and Give Thanks==
Melissa Houston, Hazel Staten and Kath Harrison of Leukaemia Research have thanked the senile delinquents for their fundraising efforts on behalf of the charity. Naturally, the four horsemen of the apocalypse thank all of their fans and supporters, but in a subtle twist from their traditional set-closer, they insist it ain't all over now.
==Breathless Bowl a Maiden Over==
Accustomed as they are to the sound of leather on willow, our heroes have been booked to appear at Buckingham Town Cricket Club's end of season BBQ on Saturday 8th September. Ed is a member of the club and was a former skipper of the 1st and 2nd XI's (albeit not at the same time) until the leukaemia struck in March 2006. The boys intend to play it with a strictly straight bat, although rumours that Pete will be a short backward square prove unfounded, as he is unavailable for the gig! His boots will be filled
by a ringer, Nick Jones.
==Breathless Confirm Advent Gig at the Grebe==
It's not just Lazarus who is able to return. Stacy at MK Promotions, Breathless' long-suffering agent, has managed to secure the lads
another gig at The Grebe pub in Great Holm, Milton Keynes on Saturday December 1st, 2007. (see Gigs page in About Us section). On what is traditionally the first day of advent, Breathless fans will be opening up the first door of their calendars to see the attractive sight of the star-spangled waistcoats taking the legendary stage. Looks like Christmas will be coming early this side of otter creek...
==Senile Delinquency live at the Clock Inn...AGAIN!==
Breathless can confirm they are booked to play their favourite venue, the Clock Inn at Shenley Leisure Centre in Milton Keynes, on Saturday November 17th 2007 (see gigs page in About Us section). Hope to see you all there in your replica Heather Jones waistcoats.
==Cranfield Gig a Success==
On Friday 10 August, Breathless played the social club at Cranfield University. For what was their debut gig at the venue, and in front of none of their army of travelling fans, our heroes worked hard and played hard to win over the crowd at this intellectual seat
of academic learning. Fortunately, the cognitive glitterati could still identify with good time music from times gone by and Lew's wistful dedication to his infamous collection of ex wives, and the lads were guaranteed a return spot in the near future. Not least due to the locals' fascination with dancing whilst perched on Lew's trolley. Check gigs for more details as and when they arrive on the desk.
==Breathless Do a Noah==
The mighty mighty Breathless defied Jeremy Clarkson and his global warming acolytes by playing their Maximum R&B at the General
Foods Social Club in Banbury. Ever wishing to please, our heroes succumbed to public pressure and performed impromptu versions of 500 miles and Amarillo within the long medley finale, but at the time of this recording are doubtful whether these will ever see the light of day again.
==Hitting The Right Note For Charity==
Summer 2007 saw the Breathless boys take the stage twice for cancer charities. On June 30 they played at the Clock Inn in aid of MacMillan nurses, in an event that raised £1100. Then two weeks later they topped the bill at Ed's annual fundraiser for Leukaemia Research at the same venue. Along with takings on the night, sales of the seminal live album Senile Delinquency, a donation from Ed's Dad David of support act Ad Hoc on behalf of Edgbaston Rotary Club, money from Ed's fundraiser page and a donation from Shenley Leisure Centre, five a side footballers and Denbigh school managed to raise a grand total of £2400. Hazel Staten from the charity was on hand to thank compere Dave Hand for a great evening. Please see www.justgiving.com/leukygig to add your support.
==Breathless Release Live CD "Senile Delinquency"==
Because of the nature of their act, the Breathless boys have always been reluctant to record a CD. However, the excellent PA Equipment that Wilko has recently acquired, plus Ed's strong-arm treatment of friend Dave Wilkie, allowed their gig at the Clock Inn, Shenley Leisure Centre, Milton Keynes on 27th January to be recorded. The results exceeded the band's expectations and 19 songs, thats 75 minutes of music with strictly no overdubs, is now available. Hard case CD's are retailing for £10, soft case £5, with £2 from each sale going to Leukaemia Research. Ronnie and Reggie, the Reprographics twins, did the printing and Daves Matthews and Jones handled photography and design. Sleevenotes were contributed by the enigmatic Colonel Boogie. The boys regret that Breathless fan #1, Vince the Irish poet, was unable to contribute his regular poetic intro and therefore not appear on the CD, but wish him a speedy recovery.
